Party in the Park on March 18

The 10th annual Party in the Park will be held on March 18, starting at noon. This annual party started a year after Celia’s Rainbow Gardens was dedicated, as a way of thanking all the volunteers who work in the Gardens, and those who have given their support in other ways.

It is also a time when people who have never been through the Gardens can have a guided tour and learn what the project is about.

Last year, about 600 people came out to enjoy the day, and it is hoped that this year will be just as successful.

The free barbecue lunch will include hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, pasta salad, lemonade and cake.

The entertainment for the party will again be provided by Jerry Mullins and Friends, and the Stillwaters Band.

These two great bands have been entertaining at the annual party for the past several years, and also play at the annual spaghetti dinner fund-raiser in November.

They put on a great show, and have always donated their time and efforts to make this a success every year.

This year we also have a guest, Slim Price, who made a career of being a star in the 10-in-1 circus side shows.

He appeared as a fire eater, human blockhead, and magician for several of the famous circus groups. He will perform for the party as well as the two bands.

Several raffles will also be held with lots of goodies, to help defray the cost of the party, and the Quartzsite Clowns will also be there. Please be sure to bring a chair as seating is limited.

If you wish to take a tour, be sure to wear good walking shoes — there are a lot of new things to see in the Gardens as we have been working on several areas over the winter.

Be sure to bring your cameras, as some of the trees and cacti are now in bloom.

Looking forward to seeing you all there and having a great day in the park!
