Community unites this week to mourn Celia’s passing

The community of Quartzsite is mourning the tragic and unexpected passing of an 8 year old Quartzsite girl Celia Anne Winer, 8, daughter of Paul  and Joanne Winer suddenly and unexpectedly died at Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe on Tuesday, October 25.

Friends and family members say Celia became ill and went into convulsions before being taken to the hospital.  Hospital spokesmen say the child became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the emergency room.

Cause of death has not yet been determined and will not be known until results of an autopsy axe available.

Celia’s sudden death has sent a shock wave through the community and caused members of the community to rally around the family. The child’s death has touched most every member of the community. Celia was a popular student at Quartzsite Elementary School and her parents Paul and Joanne active in the community, the PTA and youth affairs.

Celia was an only child and is survived by her parents, Paul and Joanne, Maternal  Grandparents James and Rena of Ontario Canada and Paternal Grandparents Jack and Celia Winer of Sun City, Arizona Uncle Bill House St  Uncle Dan Winer of Derry, New Hampshire.

Celia was born on ‘‘ March 28, 1986 at Hamilton, Ontario Canada and was a 3rd grade student at Quartzsite Elementary School in Mrs. McClening’s room.

The Winers have resided in Quartzsite for the past 4 years and operate the Oasis Book Store. A trust account has been established for the family at County Bank and contribution canisters have been placed at various business locations in town.

Celia's death has drawn most every segment of the community together. Tuesday night’s Quartzsite Town ‘Council meeting. was opened with a brief  eulogy by Vice Mayor Bob Cappi followed by moment of silent prayer. Cappi: said the child’s death has served to remind residents’ who have chosen to live in the small community, how the residents are truly family in time of need.

Frye Chapel’ is arranging for special videos on helping youngsters deal with death and grief to be made available to Celia’s classmates and members of the community,

A special memorial service will beheld today at 4p.m at the Quartzsite First Baptist Church under the direction of Frye Chapel
